Summary
Manual Maker records your on-screen actions and screenshots locally in your browser to help you create user manuals. When you generate a manual, selected data is sent to Upstage APIs. We do not operate servers that store your recordings long-term.
What Manual Maker stores locally
- Recordings, step screenshots, and webm video in IndexedDB on your device
- Manual drafts, step edits, and export settings in browser storage
- Extension preferences (e.g., structure analysis on/off, language)
Sensitive input handling
- Fields that appear to be passwords or national ID numbers are masked (••••••••) in action logs
- Plain-text values for those fields are not stored
- Optional blur of sensitive fields in screenshots
Third-party processing — Upstage
When you generate or regenerate manual text, action logs are sent to Upstage Solar Pro 3. If screen structure analysis is enabled, screenshots are sent to Upstage Document Parse. If you disable structure analysis, screenshots are not uploaded. Upstage’s policies apply to their processing.
What is not collected by us
- We do not sell personal data for advertising
- We do not maintain a cloud archive of your recordings on developer servers
- Browsing history outside your recording session is not tracked
Permissions
Manual Maker may request host access to record interactions on pages you document, tab capture or desktop capture for recording, storage/IndexedDB for sessions, and downloads for export files. See the Chrome Web Store listing for details.
Data retention and deletion
Local data remains until you:
- Delete projects or recordings in the extension
- Remove Manual Maker, or
- Clear extension data in Chrome (chrome://extensions → Manual Maker → Details → Clear data)
