Privacy Policy

Summary

Umbra applies dark mode styling to websites you visit. We do not collect, sell, or transmit browsing history or analytics to Umbra servers. There is no Umbra account.

What Umbra stores locally

• Per-site enable/disable state and custom theme adjustments
• Brightness, contrast, saturation, and system follow preferences
• Small local logs for debugging (on device only)

Chrome sync

If you use Chrome sync with your Google account, extension settings may sync through Chrome’s built-in mechanism — not through an Umbra backend.

What is not collected by us

• No visit history, analytics, or sale of personal data to Umbra
• No Umbra account or subscription billing in the current release
• Per-site rules ship inside the extension — no remote code fetched and executed at runtime

Network use

Umbra applies styles to pages you already have open (for color transformation). Network access is also used when you open links directly from the extension (e.g. feedback). Umbra does not upload page content to developer servers for profiling.

Permissions

Umbra may request host access to inject dark-mode styles, storage for settings and themes, and optional sync via Chrome. See the Chrome Web Store listing for details.

Data retention and deletion

Local data remains until you:

• Reset site settings or themes in the extension
• Remove Umbra, or
• Clear extension data in Chrome (chrome://extensions → Umbra → Details → Clear data)

Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do.
